What is Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium is additional funding that we receive from the government to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. The funding is awarded directly to school and based on criteria such as receiving free school meals (now or in the last 6 years), being in social care or adopted and children of service personnel.

As a school we have chosen to adopt a strategic cycle of planning for the spending of this funding over the coming years. This is managed and reviewed by Mrs Bulloch (Headteacher) with Mrs Proctor (SENCo), Mrs Bowler (Learning Mentor) and Mrs Stanley (Governor).

For further details of specific spending and impact seen so far this year, please see the documents below. If you would like more information about how Pupil Premium works, you can speak to Miss Parr or Mrs Bowler, or visit the government's website here:

Is My Child Eligible?

To check whether your child is eligible for free school meals and to apply, please visit:

or speak to Ms Parr, Mrs Marsden or Mrs Brown in the office - we would be happy to assist you in the application process. It is still worth applying for free school meal status even if your child is in Reception class, Year 1 or Year 2 (even though they automatically receive school meals at the moment). This means that eligible children will continue to receive the free meals once they reach junior age, and the school would receive Pupil Premium funding for your child, meaning we can provide even more beneficial initiatives to them.
