Curriculum  »  Our Curriculum

Here at St. Joseph’s we provide an engaging curriculum which is taught through a well-balanced and stimulating topic approach.

Our bespoke curriculum has been developed in partnership with Will Ryan who specialises in advising schools on new and dynamic ways to engage children in their learning.

During the Summer Term of 2018, the school introduced a new style of teaching non-core subjects to KS2 children based on a high school model. The children are taught by different teachers on each afternoon of the week, and the teachers specialise in a particular subject area. This has proved to be extremely popular and successful and will continue throughout the 2018/19 academic year.

To find a more detailed plan of your child’s class topic, go to the Year by Year Overview page in the Curriculum Section of the website. This follows the Primary National Curriculum which can be found by following this link:

St Joseph's is a Read, Write, Inc school. This is the programme which is used to teach phonics to children in Reception and KS1. The link below will take you to the RWI website with lots of interesting and informative videos should you want to find out more.
