Parent Information

You can contact the school office at any time of the school day and up until 4.30pm. Ms. Parr, Mrs. Stanbridge and Mrs Shepley will be there with a friendly voice at the end of the phone or a friendly face to greet you! Messages can also be sent via the Pupil Planners or by text to the school information system.

The staff are eager to get to know the parents of our children and are always there to help and support you as well as your children!

Mr Barraclough, our Headteacher, sends out a weekly newsletter. This contains information about what has been happening in school, information you will find useful, attendance updates and Gold Award Children together with important dates for you to know.

Please be aware that any documentation shown on our website can also be requested in paper format from the school office.

We hold a Parents' Information Evening at the start of every school year, where you can meet your child's teacher, have a look around the class and receive information about how your child's class will run and the curriculum that will be covered. You will also be given ideas of how you can support your child's learning. If we work together - your child will make better progress!
Our aim is to keep you as informed as possible! We  invite you to two Parents' Consultation Evenings - one in the autumn term and one in the spring term. You will have the opportunity to discuss your child's progress, find out what levels they are working at and what targets have been set for them! you will receive a short written report in the spring term and a more detailed report at the end of the summer term.

If we feel we need to see you or you need to see us at any other time during the year, then a meeting will be arranged as soon as possible.

We also hold termly review meetings for those children who have a special need - medical, social, behavioural or academic. Our SENCo Mrs Wells, in addition to the class teacher, will help to support you through this process.

Parents of children in Reception Class and Years 1 and 2 are invited to stay and work alongside their children each friday morning after the Celebration assembly. Each term we hold Parent/Child Activity Sessions linked to our special theme weeks. This gives you (or a grandparent!) the opportunity to come into school and work with your child on an activity under the guidance of the teacher. Past activities have included Christmas Crafts and Problem Solving.

There are many other opportunities that you will have to come into school during the year. We are especially pleased to welcome you each friday to our Celebration Assemblies and to join in with our school masses and liturgies.

The Friends of St Joseph's is a group of parents and teachers that meet at least twice a term to plan events and raise funds for the school. Recently we raised money to pay for playground equipment, netbooks and a new  books for the School library. Please join us by contacting the school. We need ideas as well as practical help! Meetings are held in the staffroom and there is always a warm welcome and cup of tea or coffee available!

Please check the calender for forthcoming events.
